San Francisco Aloha Festival 2011
Cancellation Notice

The Pacific Islanders' Cultural Association (PICA) would like to thank all its vendors and attendees for again supporting us during our August 2010 San Francisco Aloha Festival.  It makes us very happy to know we have such caring and dedicated people who continue to support our annual event.

During Aloha Festival 2010, we learned that future construction at our current location in the Presidio of San Francisco will prevent us from holding our festival there in 2011.  We also learned that the available parking will be sharply curtailed in the festival area after construction completion.  So shortly after the August 2010 festival's conclusion, a small team of PICA volunteers began to hunt for a new location for Aloha Festival 2011.  We gave ourselves a November 2010 deadline so that we would have enough time to 1) advertise the new location to vendors and attendees, 2) negotiate and sign a new site contract, and 3) work out all the logistics at the new site.  Unfortunately, we were unable to find a suitable location in time to complete those three tasks.  So it is with a heavy heart that PICA announces the cancellation of Aloha Festival 2011.  We will continue to search for a new location during 2011 in the hopes of putting on a successful Aloha Festival in 2012.

PICA knows that many people, especially vendors, must plan their schedules far in advance.  We are notifying everyone now so they can consider attending other events during the first weekend in August 2011 when we normally hold our festival.  We would have liked to announce this postponement even earlier, but were trying to find a new location even after our self-imposed deadline.  We must now announce the cancellation and focus our planning on a new location for Aloha Festival 2012.

We apologize for the disruption this cancellation will have on the many vendors who support our festival.  We also want to acknowledge the many attendees who look forward to Aloha Festival each year, and hope you will come back to see us in 2012 at the new site.  When we find that new site, we will send out an email to vendors and to individuals on our mailing list.  We will also publish the details on our www.pica-org.org website, along with other information as it becomes available.

If you have any questions, please email us at info@pica-org.org.  Mahalo for your understanding and continued support!
